PLAYFLY OVERVIEW

PlayFly is a new browser-based game platform, made for games that center player creation.

It can host games in any genre, as long as they can run in a browser and empower creative players to make things that other players can play with. (This describes a surprisingly large subset of all games!)

What sets PlayFly apart is that when players make content and hit a ‘publish’ button, that content is shared as a standalone playable experience on the platform, accessible as a URL and played in a browser.

In short: We’re making a platform to make UGC-centered games easier to develop, more viral, and more sustainable.

SO YOU’RE MAKING A GAME CREATION PLATFORM, LIKE ROBLOX?

No - it’s not a singular tool like Roblox or Fortnite or Scratch - it’s a platform to host any game built around user creations. What those specific creations are will depend on the game.

Games on PlayFly can be made in Unity, Godot, JavaScript, or any game engine or framework that can export to the web. It can support new or existing games, and the types of creations players can publish can range from very simple to more complex.

SO… IT’S FOR GAMES LIKE MARIO MAKER?

Yes. Mario Maker is a fantastic example of the type of game we want to support, where player creations are the “main course”, and creation and play all happen within the same game.
